VENT on dress standards

Modesty to everyone is not the same. People always have different views/opinions/convictions about it. I personally think that certain people tend to take the whole "Modesty" thing WAY too far. I do NOT agree with the 3 fingers down from the collar bone, I don't believe that it's wrong or sinful to wear a skirt a little above the knee or to wear pants. A high low skirt DOESN'T DRAW ATTENTION to your legs, and wearing t shirts with writing on them, doesn't draw attention to your boobs. I don't believe that certain shoes/heels make you look like a hooker either. I swear the people who come up with some of this stuff have no life. You can dress stylishly and modestly without looking like A NUN. AND all the things mentioned above don't make men stumble. Now I completely and wholeheartedly believe that a girl who dresses in an incredibly low cut top, and mini skirt and heels is IMMODEST. Clearly looking for attention, or doesn't know any better. That is something any guy would have difficulty not keeping his eyes off of. But it's silly for women or men to say that it's all completely on US women to keep men from stumbling and messing up. We can help that to an extent...But in the end, DESPITE WHAT WE'RE WEARING, if a guy wants to look, HE'S GONNA LOOK. Dressing like a nun and covering every single part of your body and wearing clothes that look like a SACK aren't gonna keep him from being a perv. Just because pants are tighter fitting than a skirt doesn't mean that it causes men to stumble. And the same goes for shirts with writing across the front. Men have FULL responsibility to control their eyes by themselves. That is something they have to ask God daily to help them with. I do believe in dressing modestly. And I do believe it is wrong to wear clothes that show cleavage and such. But, you can dress just as modest when wearing jeans and a t shirt with words on it. Not everyone is as extreme as others. I don't believe that God says anything about wearing pants in the Bible, yet some like to argue differently. When I say extreme, I'm meaning floor length dresses, nylons, tops that come no lower then the base of your neck, and sleeves have to be on everything. Sorry...but it isn't wrong to show your bare toes, it isn't wrong to show some of your leg, and it isn't wrong to show your shoulders. Unless it's being done in a seductive, sensual way. I feel many churches these days drive people away because they believe stuff like this. So others don't feel welcome because they feel if they come in pants or whatever they'll be shunned. People should never every have to worry about churches being judgmental of them.... It isn't right. People should be able to come to church and feel comfortable and welcomed. Not hated, judged, and shunned. Just something to think about.
I posted some pics in this post below of how you can make jeans modest, but still trendy and cute.

Introduction

My name is Anna, if you're reading this most of you probably already know who I am...or you don't. Here's a little about myself. I grew up in a christian home, I grew up with 7 brothers and sisters. My mom home schooled all of us from kindergarten all the way through high school. We attended a fundamental baptist church since all my life. We participated in the Christian schools activities that was part of our church. We did youth group and all that fun stuff. We definitely were not sheltered children. Are parents never sugar coated anything. They raised us the best they knew how, and did a great job at it. All of us are now grow adults either happily married with kids, kids on the way, or still attending college. As of June 20th my little sister with be the 7th one of us to be married. Which leaves my baby brother who is working and saving to go to college, he has already graduated high school. I am married, with a baby boy due in August. My husband is currently serving in the United States NAVY. He is a hospital Corpsman. We are residing in Woodbridge VA. we will be here for the next 3 years, then he gets stationed somewhere else. Anywho, enough about me. I'm just creating a blog for fun. To write about my thoughts, feelings, standards, convictions, and so forth. People are always welcome to debate, AS LONG AS IT'S DONE IN A RESPECTFUL, KIND MANNER. I like knowing and hearing about other peoples opinions/views/standards. 2 topics I'll definitely be writing about is modesty, and how Christians choose to present themselves in today's screwed up world. Other times there will probably just be random posts about anything and everything. What is going on in my life etc. Enjoy! :)
